Veteran Funerals Perth
Our veterans are brave men and women that have risked their lives to protect their fellow Australian’s and their country during times of conflict.
They have all provided an honourable service to our country, which is why many of us wish to acknowledge their sacrifice and honour their service through ceremony and remembrance.
When a Veteran passes away, there are options for the family to honour their military participation as well as support available from the Department of Veterans Affairs to help with funeral expenses.
Department of Veterans Affairs Assistance
Before planning a funeral service for a veteran, Remembrance Funerals advise that you contact the Department of Veterans Affairs to understand if you are eligible for funeral assistance and bereavement payment. Funeral assistance from the Department of Veterans Affairs is available to help families meet the cost of the funeral. The assistance available depends on whether the person’s service is covered by the VEA, MRCA or SRCA.
Once the Department of Veterans Affairs has been notified about the death of a pension recipient, depending on circumstances, bereavement payments may be payable. A bereavement payment is a one-off, non-taxable payment designed to help with the costs that may follow the death of a pensioner or member/former member.
